Host a No Labor Day BBQ

We know what you're probably thinking, how can you combine "no labor" with hosting a party? Well, we've not only done it, but we've perfected it and put all the need to know information in an electronic party plan (Partybluprints.com "Easy as Pie" Eparty Plan) that really is as easy as pie!

Although September 21st is the official end of summer, everyone considers Labor Day the last hoorah. So plan to host a Labor Day BBQ that is true to the spirit behind this holiday. Labor Day was established as a national holiday to honor our nation's workforce and give them a day of rest - it really should be called "No Labor Day". Further, after a summer of hamburgers and hot dogs, guests will love this "untraditional" barbecue that showcases summer's abundant and delicious produce, puts a twist on a favorite communal meal, pizza, and then tops it off with a lot of fun and excitement! The added bonus of this party is that it's an affordable way to entertain a crowd outdoors and that means no oven, dishwasher or mess inside. Are you starting to see where we are going with this...

Before we're all thrown back into the hectic pace of "real life" that comes along with the school year, make the most of the upcoming 3 day weekend. Celebrate the last few lazy days of summer with a Pizza BBQ that's all about ease and simplicity - remember NO labor. Your guests will relish becoming Pizzaiolos, as they create and grill pizzas with a "teammate" as part of a competition. At our last one, teams actually used hats, sunglasses and a few other props from around our house to unify themselves as teams. As you can imagine this added to the fun and made for a 'more spirited' competition. Enjoy turning your grill into a pizza oven, shopping the local produce stand for farm fresh fruit and vegetables for toppings, and transforming your backyard into an alfresco neighborhood pizza parlor. The best part of this party is that everything can be prepared in advance of the party, with the exception of the pizzas which are made by your guests, clean up is a snap, the leftovers go home with your guests, and everything else is disposable. It's as easy as uno, due, tre! Mangia!

Join us in sending off summer with a party that brings together family and friends of all ages for some plain ole fun. Here are some quick tips from the Eparty Plan:

    1. Purchase pizza dough from your local pizzeria. Although they don't advertise it, many pizzerias will sell it to you by the pound if you ask. Making pizza dough for a crowd is labor intensive, so save yourself the work.

    2. When grilling pizza, use a well oiled grill topper to cook the dough. Watch it carefully as it cooks, as it can burn quickly. You may want to test a few small pieces of dough and adjust the heat accordingly.

    3. Cook the dough first, then add toppings, and heat through.

    4. Enjoy a variety of fresh produce, including herbs, on your grilled pizza.

    5. Use the extra produce you buy for the pizza toppings to create colorful centerpieces, and add some sunflowers.

    Here's is an excerpt...
Although this neighborhood pizza parlor ("your home") may contain elements of your favorite pizza parlor, it certainly will not be traditional. Little will your guests realize that they are about to tap into their creativity and competitive nature to playfully compete for the title of "Pizzaiolo", master in the art of pizza making. Pair your guests up into teams and allow them to express themselves. Working with the abundant selection of toppings you have presented at "The Works Station", the teams make pizza pies. Each team will create their own "artist's palate" and take turns designing and serving pizza to the other guests. Soon all will be comparing notes over the freshest and most artistic pizzas in town. Enjoy a slice of heaven at a unique neighborhood pizza parlor with your family. Over this meal, everyone is family.

    Cheers to Extraordinary Entertaining!
